Nottingham Forest to 'try their luck' with transfer bid for £40m goalkeeper

Nottingham Forest are "ready to try their luck" with a bid for Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope.

Despite their relegation to the Championship, the Clarets are said to value the England stopper at a staggering £40m. Forest are seemingly keen on the 30-year-old, while he also wants to stay in the top flight.

According to The Sun, Forest are readying a low bid for Pope in the hope that Burnley will reluctantly let him go. It is reported that Pope's camp feel they can achieve a £10m move, though that has been "laughed off" by people at his club.

Pope has been a regular for Burnley, missing just eight Premier League games over the past three seasons. He has won Burnley's Player of the Year and Players' Player of the Year twice and was named in the 2019-20 PFA Team of the Year.

During his time at Turf Moor, he has also earned eight England caps. He will be looking to increase that tally and earn a place in the squad for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar this November. Premier League football will almost certainly be key to achieving that goal and Forest looks a perfect destination.
