Nottingham Forest's bizarre corner routine v Newcastle goes viral

Nottingham Forest took one of the strangest corner routines we’ll see all season in their Premier League clash against Newcastle United on Saturday afternoon.

After 23 years away, Forest secured their long-awaited return to England’s top tier after winning the Championship playoff final in May.

They were handed a tricky trip to Newcastle United to open their 2022/23 campaign.

Unfortunately for the newly-promoted side, they were well and truly outclassed by Eddie Howe’s outfit at St James’ Park.

Newcastle won 2-0 courtesy of goals from Fabian Schar and Callum Wilson.

Forest managed just 38% possession and failed to muster a single shot on target.

While it didn’t go Forest’s way on the day, they could not be criticised for a lack of effort.

They even attempted an incredibly bizarre corner routine in a desperate attempt to get back into the match.

In the 73rd minute, with Newcastle leading 1-0, Forest were given a corner.

Six Forest players positioned themselves around 30 yards from goal. When the corner taker threw his hand in the air, five of them charged into the box, while another stayed on the edge.

The corner was then swung in and, perhaps unsurprisingly, Nick Pope ventured off his line and collected the ball comfortably. Watch the moment below…
