Nottingham Forest old boy agrees with Marco Silva about controversial decision at Fulham

Glenn Murray has cast doubt over Nottingham Forest's crucial winning goal against Fulham.

Forest triumphed 1-0 at Craven Cottage against their already-promoted hosts on Tuesday night to boost their own hopes of reaching the Premier League. Philip Zinckernagel's 15th-minute goal proved to be enough to give Steve Cooper's men a crucial three points.

The result officially clinched Forest's place in the Championship play-offs, and kept alive their hopes of catching Bournemouth in the second automatic promotion spot. The Cherries produced a remarkable comeback from 3-0 down at Swansea City to draw 3-3 but saw the Reds close the gap on them to just three points. The two sides go head-to-head on the south coast next week.

There was a hint of controversy surrounding Forest's winner against Fulham. A mix-up between centre-back Tim Ream and goalkeeper Marek Rodak allowed Zinckernagel to nip in and poke the ball over the line. However, there were claims from the home side that Neco Williams had been fouled by Sam Surridge in the build-up.

On the goal itself, former Forest striker Murray told Sky Sports: "This epitomised Nottingham Forest's youthful energy, for me - the way he (Zinckernagel) chases the ball when he's got no right to get it. He never gives up on it.

"When Fulham look back on it, there will be some questions to answer, I think. Personally, I don't like the way (Marek) Rodak approaches the ball - the angle. For me, the goalkeeper, if in doubt, take everything with you - your own centre-back, the ball, the forward."
