Nottingham Forest closing on exciting double transfer as defender ready for 'next step'

Nottingham Forest have taken a step closer to securing the services of Neco Williams and Omar Richards, according to reports.

Liverpool right-back Williams has long been admired by Steve Cooper following the Reds' promotion to the Premier League. The Wales international is likely to be brought in to replace Djed Spence, who looks to be signing for Tottenham Hotspur.

On the other side of defence, Bayern Munich's Richards has been linked with a move to the East Midlands after only a year in Germany.

New Nottingham Forest defender Moussa Niakhate believes his move to the City Ground was the 'next step' in his career.

The centre-back put pen to paper on a three-year contract with the option of a further 12 months, after signing from Mainz.

Niakhate became the club's fourth incoming of the summer transfer window, after Taiwo Awoniyi, Giulian Biancone and Dean Henderson.
