"Not sure they work in tandem" - Journalist claims key Everton partnership lack "understanding"

Everton duo Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison are not a great partnership and have failed to build an understanding, claims journalist Paul Brown.

Neither player has stood out in front of goal this season, though the former has missed a large part of the campaign due to injury.

Everton’s last game was one to forget for the team as a hole, with Frank Lampard’s men on the receiving end of a 5-0 thrashing to Tottenham.

Both Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison started the match but were unable to make much of an impact in attack on the night.

They finished proceedings with WhoScored match ratings of 5.5 and 5.9 respectively, with Richarlison managing just one shot throughout the whole 90 minutes, showing how disappointing the Toffees were in the final third.

It means Calvert-Lewin’s league record for this season stands at three goals in nine appearances, while Richarlison’s is four in 18.

The £90m-rated Everton duo do not always play as a partnership, with Richarlison starting off on the left in that humiliating defeat to Tottenham. But when they have, Brown has not been impressed with what he has seen.

Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, the Daily Star journalist said: “I’m not sure the two of them are a great partnership. I’m not sure they work in tandem very well.

“Individually, they’re both good assets for the club, but they don’t seem to have really built up much of an understanding between them.”

He is going to have to; otherwise, Everton are in serious trouble.
