Norwich boss David Wagner confirms Shane Duffy is available despite being charged with drink-driving

Republic of Ireland centre-half Shane Duffy is available for selection ahead of Norwich City's Championship play-off semi-final first leg at home to Leeds United on Sunday.

Duffy was arrested in Hethersett, near Norwich, on Friday night after being involved in a two-vehicle crash.

Norfolk Police confirmed no injuries occurred but the 32-year-old has subsequently been charged with driving whilst unfit through drink, having provided a breath sample of 102 micrograms of alcohol, almost three times the legal limit of 35. He is now due to appear at Norwich Magistrates Court on 2 July.

Norwich issued a statement saying that "the club is in the process of considering the matter internally in accordance with its own disciplinary procedure" and Canaries boss David Wagner confirmed on Friday that Duffy is in training ahead of the meeting with Leeds.

"The club made a statement," Wagner said. "I don't like to speak too much about it. It is a legal process now which is ongoing. We will assess it internally as well.

"He has been in full training since the beginning of the week. He trained like normal.

"Everyone was super focused, relaxed enough but excited enough, how it should be before such a game and this is how we will deal with the situation."

Norwich squeaked into the play-offs by finishing sixth in the Championship, and Wagner has called for calm ahead of visit of third-placed Leeds, who are managed by former Canaries boss Daniel Farke.

"Some get excited three days before the game, some get excited when we go for our pre-match meal. We need to keep everyone calm and focused, then the excitement will start," Wagner said at his pre-match press conference.
