Food across the pond in the UK and America often presents a stark contrast, offering a genuine adventure for those with curious palates.
This was precisely the case for a British chap named Alex, who discovered the unique tastes of American cuisine thanks to his girlfriend Tay from the States. She introduced him to a breakfast spread that's quite standard in America but would be an unusual choice for a morning meal in the UK.
The couple, sharing their culinary escapades on their TikTok account @tayandalexx, ventured out for "biscuits, gravy, and pancakes" - a meal Tay highlighted in her video with the text: "I took my northern English boyfriend for an American breakfast". In the video's caption, she quipped: "Should have just taken him to McDonald's for breakfast."

During the video, Tay mentioned they had ordered "biscuits and gravy", to which Alex, visibly appalled, remarked: "It's not gravy, is it? Because it was white and lumpy. Call it whatever you want, just don't call it gravy," expressing his dismay as he's accustomed to the traditional rich brown British gravy.
Tay went on to showcase the rest of their meal, detailing: "This is fried chicken with french toast, two eggs," at which point Alex questioned if there was a dollop of ice cream atop the French toast, only to be corrected by Tay that "it's butter".
Alex also weighed in on the hash browns, doubting they match up to what he considers the gold standard, saying: "Maccies hash browns are the best in the world."
