Norma Plummer returns as Proteas netball coach

Netball South Africa have appointed a new national head coach ahead of the Diamond League in Pretoria.

Australian Norma Plummer returns as South Africa's coach, having previously held the position from 2016 to 2019.

Plummer will take over as on-court technical and tactical coach in the build-up to next year's Netball World Cup in Cape Town.

Dorette Badenhorst, who had taken over the helm from Plummer since 2019, is no longer involved in the national set-up.

Plummer will be assisted by Nicole Cusack, Dumisani Chauke, Fikile Phasha, Dr Yolandi Willemse and Innis Erasmus.

"The decision to make these changes was not an easy one to make considering how close we are to the Netball World Cup; however, they were needed," said Netball South Africa President, Cecilia Molokwane in a press statement.

"This was not an easy one to make however in the interest of the team and country, we felt we needed to initiate them now rather than later."

The Proteas netball team have assembled in Potchefstroom ahead of next week's Spar Diamond Challenge between South Africa, Scotland and Zimbabwe.

The Diamond Challenge will take place from 22-26 November at the University of Pretoria's Rembrandt Hall.

All the Diamond Challenges will be broadcast live on SuperSport TV with fixtures get to be announced and confirmed.

Tickets for the games will be available at the venue: R20 for adults and R10 for children.
