Noel Gallagher takes brutal swipe at Sam Smith as he also misgenders the singing star

Noel Gallagher made a dig at singing superstar Sam Smith while misgendering them in an interview. The Manchester singer-songwriter, 55, took a brutal swipe at British Grammy and Oscar-winner Sam in an interview with Dutch radio station Kink.

The former Oasis lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist and songwriter blasted the current state of pop music and branded Sam "a "f***ing idiot" as he ranted to DJ Jasper Leijdens. Noel said: "Pop music is alright if the popstars are cool. Sadly the popstars of today are f***ing idiots."

He was asked "who's the biggest idiot around now?" and he replied bluntly "Sam Smith." Asked why Sam, Noel replied: "Look at him." The Brit Pop icon was on the show to talk about his new record Council Skies with his band Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds.

Sam is the first openly non-binary musician to both release a song that reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 in America and to win a Grammy Award. In 2015 they won the Best New Artist Grammy, Best Pop Vocal Album for In The Lonely Hour and Record of the Year and Song of the Year for Stay With Me.
