Noel Gallagher delivers tongue-in-cheek view of Man City's 'embarrassing' win over Manchester United

Noel Gallagher has delivered a tongue-in-cheek assessment of his beloved Manchester City's dominant win over Manchester United.

The former Oasis star watched his team dismantle their bitter rivals 6-3 at the Etihad on Sunday. But despite the thumping manner of the win, he had one big gripe.

He was unhappy that at 6-1 up Pep Guardiola's side allowed their rivals to notch two goals to give the scoreline a little more respectability.

Speaking on talkSPORT, Gallagher said: “I can’t believe we gave them three goals. It’s an embarrassment!

“Seventy-seven minutes of that game will live long in the memory and then 6-1 – how they’ve got another two goals, [City] have had a shocker!”

Gallagher also heaped praise on new City poster boy Erling Haaland after his third hat-trick in as many home games - and even compared him to a famous predecessor.

He added: “I always think that your debut is a good snapshot of how your career is going to go at a club.

“When Sergio Aguero came in and he scored two goals everyone was like ‘this guy is the real deal’, but it was a completely different team.

“Haaland, if he stays fit, is still in the settling-in period according to the experts at radio stations, so in six weeks it’ll be good that the World Cup comes along for everybody else! This guy has done it already all over Europe and in the Bundesliga but you just can’t see him going three games without scoring, you can’t see it.”
