‘No significant injury’ – West Ham handed Jarrod Bowen boost

West Ham forward Jarrod Bowen has escaped serious injury after limping off against Liverpool, the London club confirmed on Sunday.

The 25-year-old suffered a heel injury early in the second half of his side’s 1-0 defeat.

Bowen has undergone a scan and West Ham have confirmed he suffered no serious damage, although he must be a doubt for Thursday’s Europa League trip to Sevilla.

Hammers medic Richard Collinge told the club website: “Jarrod underwent an MRI scan in London on Sunday morning and thankfully no significant injury has occurred.

“He will continue to be monitored by the medical team and will undergo further examination in the coming days.”

The former Hull City man has been in terrific form for the Irons this term. He has scored 12 and assisted 11 in 39 matches in all competitions.

Bowen has been hotly tipped to receive an England call-up amid his terrific form, with the next international break taking place in late March.

Premier League giants Liverpool have been heavily linked with the 25-year-old.

GiveMeSport transfer insider Dean Jones claimed last month: “Maybe Jarrod Bowen is next on their radar and he’s somebody they’re seriously interested in.”

Elsewhere, Gabby Agbonlahor reckons Chelsea would still be in with a chance of winning the Premier League were it not for the long-term injuries suffered by Reece James and Ben Chilwell.

James marked his return to the side with a goal and an assist in the 4-0 win over Burnley on Saturday to show Chelsea exactly what they’ve been missing since his injury in December.
