"No One Can Leave Own Blood": Mohammed Shami On Missing Daughter, Not Visiting Her

India pacer Mohammed Shami has opened up on the bond with his daughter, Aaira, who lives with the cricketer's estranged wife Hasin Jahan. During a recent interaction, Shami revealed that he misses Aaira a lot, and only speaks to her occasionally. The cricketer revealed that Hasin Jahan doesn't allow Aaira to speak to him very often, adding that he doesn't get the chance to meet Aaira in person since he and his estranged wife have not been in talking terms. For the unversed, Shami married Hasin Jahan in 2014, while Aaira was born in 2015.

"Who doesn't miss their kids and family. Obviously, there are situations where not everything is in your hands. But if you ask me do I miss her (daughter), no one can leave their own blood," Shami told News 18.

"I do speak to her sometimes. All depends on her, if she (Hasin Jahan) allows I talk to her. I haven't visited her yet. I just want to wish her good health and a lot of success. Whatever is going on between her mother and me, that shouldn't matter. I make sure that she is living a healthy life," he added.

Meanwhile, Shami has been out of action since the conclusion of the ODI World Cup last year.

He missed the subsequent home series against Australia and Afghanistan, as well as the tour of South Africa earlier this year.

The pacer also did not play a part in the first two Tests against England, and his availability for the remainder of the series also remains a doubt.

"As of now there is little or no chance that Mohammed Shami (who is in the UK for ankle treatment) and Ravindra Jadeja will be fit for the remainder of the series," said a PTI report on the players.
