NNL orders pre-competition medical tests for players, officials before season kickoff
According to the second-tier league body, the tests include Pre-competition Medical Assessment (PCMA) to ensure that registered players and officials are safe to participate in any form of physical activity; an electrocardiogram (ECG) test to diagnose the heart’s conditions and electrical activity, as well as COVID-19 test for covid related cases.
The medical tests, the NNL said, are prerequisite to obtain clean medical clearance for players and officials to feature in the league.
According to NNL’s Chief Operating Officer, Emmanuel Adesanya, the clubs are to submit an official report, which must be endorsed by a qualified medical doctor or notable medical centres.
“We attach huge importance to the life of each player and official, that is why the medical conditions must be adhered to.
“Clubs, who fail to comply with the directive, risks disqualification from the league even though the fixtures have been drawn.
“We urge all the clubs to do the needful and get sample tests before our kick off. They all have been notified on the importance of this development,” he said.
