Nikita Mazepin is reportedly facing Haas axe with Pietro Fittipaldi lined up

Haas driver Nikita Mazepin’s future in Formula 1 looks to be pretty murky at best with Sky Germany reporting that he is set to be replaced in the team by their Brazilian reserve driver Pietro Fittipaldi.

The Russian driver has seen a great deal of speculation emerge over his future in the sport with Formula 1 joining many in cutting ties as much as possible with Russia over the war in Ukraine.

Indeed, Mazepin currently faces a ban from the British Grand Prix with Motorsport UK saying no Russian or Belarusian driver can compete in this country, and it appears as though his time in the sport could be coming to an end.

That’s according to Sky Germany, at least, who are suggesting that Haas are ready to swap Mazepin for their reserve driver, the Brazilian Pietro Fittipaldi.

The 25-year-old has competed in Formula 3 and IndyCar during his career, having been born in Miami to become a member of a famous racing family.

Indeed, his grandfather is former Formula 1 world champion Emerson Fittipaldi, and so if he does get the Haas gig he’ll already have something in common with his new team-mate Mick Schumacher, who also has racing blood coursing through him.

No official announcement has been made yet, but Haas are being tipped to have the change sorted by Bahrain testing next weekend.
