Nick Pope to Fulham: Is it a good potential move? Would he start? What does he offer?

Fulham have been credited with an interest in Burnley goalkeeper Nick Pope, as per a report from The Sun. 

Pope, 29, has again featured regularly for the Premier League outfit this season, keeping seven clean sheets in 25 top-tier appearances thus far. 

The experienced shot-stopper is currently on international duty with England and could be involved in Tuesday night’s clash with the Ivory Coast. 

Pope, who has now kept 45 clean sheets in 130 Premier League matches, is not the only target that The Sun have claimed Fulham are looking at, with Manchester United’s Dean Henderson also on the radar.

Is it a good potential move? 

It certainly has the potential to be, whilst Fulham have been a level above for the majority of the campaign, Pope adds regular top-flight experience and has all the necessary attributes to thrive at Craven Cottage. 

With Fulham edging closer to a Premier League return, and Burnley perhaps heading for top-tier relegation, this is a potential move that could see Pope continuing to operate in England’s highest-tier, something that would bolster his chances for international selection with the World Cup coming this year. 

Would he start? 

If they were to bring in a player of Pope’s quality and reputation then it would be strange if the Cottagers viewed him as a deputy option. 

Marek Rodak has not done much to suggest that he would not be able to handle the step back up to the Premier League, enjoying a consistent campaign at Craven Cottage. 

And whilst competition levels would likely be high at Craven Cottage next season with the addition of Pope, it would likely be the 29-year-old who comes out on top more font than not.
