Nicholas Latifi axed by Williams F1 team after 3 seasons of poor performances

Nicholas Latifi and the Williams Formula 1 team confirmed they would be parting ways at the end of the 2022 season. Latifi, 27, has not been living up to expectations, and his seat has come under severe threat.

Announcing the news on his social media, Latifi said: "So, I'm parting ways with Williams Racing at the end of the year.

"Honoured to have represented them for the last 3 years. A massive thanks to the whole team - it's been an incredible journey, and I've enjoyed every second of it."

Latifi has not had the easiest of times in an underperforming Williams since his 2020 debut, but he has failed to match the performance of the three teammates he had in his time in F1.

Williams looking to the future

Having participated in 55 Grands Prix for Williams, Latifi's F1 run is effectively over. His performances never gave the impression that he has what it takes to compete in motorsport's pinnacle racing series, even though he joined the sport on the back of plenty of promise.

The seven championship points he accumulated are a stark reminder of how he struggled against the world's best drivers; hence the team had no option other than to part ways with the Canadian driver.
