NFL: Ranking wide receiver groups from 'Elite' to 'Bricks For Hands'

In our latest tier ranking article, GiveMeSport looks at wide receiver groups within the NFL to try and decipher which ones are the best in the business collectively.

The old saying is that you are only as strong as your weakest link, and as a result, whilst there might be some elite talent on your roster, there might be some people holding you back, that’s why it might be easier to judge people as a group rather than breaking them down into individuals.

That is what we are going to do when it comes to wide receiver groups in the National Football League, rather than breaking it down to who are the best when they are on their own, which team is likely to strike fear into the heart of their opponents as a collective.

After all, for as much as you might want to focus your attention on one man like Cooper Kupp for the Los Angeles Rams, if you do that you leave yourself open to being opened up by someone else, as Odell Beckham Jr proved when he bagged the opening touchdown of the Super Bowl last season.

Is your receiving group predominantly just one man dominating the landscape whilst the others are just there to ride his coattails? Or do you have talent spread right the way through the depth chart that means your quarterback can rely on whoever he is throwing to?

So using Tiermaker.com, we have broken the wide receiver groups of the NFL into the following categories, and just to be clear, we are just focusing on wide receivers, so not running backs or tight ends:

Plenty of players amongst the group that can make big plays, can’t take your eye off any of them

Perhaps one or two star players, but the rest are just there to make up the numbers

A mixture of talent, none of them really capable of making a name for themselves
