NFL London Games: Throwback to Rob Gronkowski's epic 2012 TD celebration

Rob Gronkowski’s spike during the 2012 NFL London Games for the New England Patriots will always remain an iconic moment in UK American Football history. 

Rob Gronkowski, affectionately named ‘Gronk’, is without a doubt one of the best tight ends to ever play in the National Football League, in fact you might say that during his time with the New England Patriots and his final two years with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he may have done enough to go down as the greatest to ever play the position in the history of the league. 

Gronkowski racked up 10,675 receiving yards across the regular and postseason whilst hauling in 108 touchdowns. Those numbers turned into a number of accolades as he was named First-team All-Pro four times and was named to 5 Pro Bowls, a spot in the 2010s All-Decade team as well as the NFL’s 100th-anniversary all-time team. 

And there was a time in his early days when he was just simply an unstoppable force, leading the league outright in touchdown receptions in 2011, something that is incredibly rare for a tight end to do in a league where they have to spend a lot of their time blocking on passing plays as well.

So when the New England Patriots arrived in London in 2012 to take on the then-St Louis Rams, it was no surprise to see that Gronkowski was an integral part of the team that smoked them by a score of 45-7 as the Patriots rolled the ‘home’ team Rams.

Gronkowski was a beast that day, hauling in 146 yards and two touchdowns off of 8 receptions, but it was his first touchdown of the day that was the biggest talking point of the day, not because of him scoring, it was pretty obvious that he was going to score as soon as the Patriots were set and ready to execute the play, it was the celebration
