Newry’s Conor Wallace comes up short in world title eliminator against Ben Whittaker
Newry light-heavyweight Conor Wallace came up short on the scorecards against Ben Whittaker after having the home fighter badly hurt late on in their fight in Birmingham, England, on Saturday night.
Whittaker (now 13-0-1) won both the unanimous decision and the right to challenge unified champion Dmitry Bivol, but after the fight he expressed interest in a rematch with Wallace (17-2), having had to hold on to survive the final minutes of his first 12-round fight.
