Newcastle United supporters make admission as Christian Eriksen reportedly spurns Man United

Christian Eriksen's immediate future has again been brought into question following the latest rumours the midfielder has rejected advances from Manchester United. The 30-year-old's contract is due to expiry with Brentford in just a matter of days.

With both the Bees and Erik ten Hag's Reds touted as possible destinations for Eriksen, Newcastle are also thought to have shown a keen interest. With two additions already through the door at St James' Park, Eriksen's transfer would surely indicate a further statement of intent from the club's new owners.

Available on a free, Antonio Conte's Spurs had also been linked with a possible reunion although information now suggests that their interest has since cooled. Yves Bissouma joined from Brighton just last week, with Eriksen of course departing the club back in 2020.

Given the ongoing speculation, many Magpies fans have since reacted to the news, suggesting the former Inter Milan midfield would be another shrewd addition. Here's what some supporters had to say on social media...

@TheGeordie21 said: "Is it just a coincidence that he has went on to favourites to join Newcastle at the bookies? If we got him along with a ST & RW then we have had an amazing transfer window."

@Berwick17 added: "I’d love Eriksen at NUFC but I think he’ll be a Brentford player. The only link we have is Trippier, where as Brentford have Danish ownership."

@SteveBro00287157 further stated: "Brentford pole position but we still have a chance. Would love him at the toon."

@NUFO_2015 wrote: "I would love Eriksen and Diaby to sign for Newcastle. They would make us top 8."

@zaimizzat10 posted: "A midfield of B. Guimaraes, Joelinton and Eriksen is no joke man, if it does happen then wow Newcastle."
