Newcastle United fans cannot agree over Aston Villa deadline day deal

Newcastle United are considering a last-minute January move for Aston Villa's Matt Targett as their spending spree continues.

According to the Athletic, boss Eddie Howe is eager to add the full-back to his defence as he looks to tighten up a backline that has leaked goals throughout the season.

Newcastle have already made a series of moves ahead of tomorrow's deadline with Brighton's Dan Burn next to arrive after the two clubs agreed a fee of £13m.

The Magpies have also added Bruno Guimaraes to the squad from Lyon for a reported fee of £33m, and they are now keen on a deal for Targett.
