Newcastle transfer shortlist down to two Prem stars as Eddie Howe eyes reinforcements

Newcastle United have two Premier League stars in mind as they look to bolster their goalkeeping ranks, according to reports.

Eddie Howe has Martin Dubravka and Karl Darlow in his squad. Dubravka began the season behind his English team-mate but has gone on to start the last 18 Premier League matches.

Between the two shot-stoppers, they have conceded 54 goals in 30 matches. Newcastle’s defensive frailty was on show during the 5-1 thrashing at Tottenham on Sunday.

The Magpies enjoyed an impressive first half and went in at 1-1. But a second-half capitulation saw Spurs hit four goals, with Heung-min Son and Steven Bergwijn among those on the scoresheet.

Dubravka couldn’t do much to keep Newcastle in the match as Antonio Conte’s attackers tore his defence apart.

However, it seems Howe still wants to bring a new keeper to St James’ Park ready for next season.

According to recent reports, Newcastle are considering a move for Brighton and Spain’s Robert Sanchez.
