Newcastle transfer news: Isaac Hayden could still leave St James' Park despite window closing

Isaac Hayden is attracting interest from Russia after being left out of Newcastle United’s 25-man squad for the remainder of the season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Hayden is currently on the sidelines after undergoing knee surgery before the turn of the year and he will not appear for the Magpies before the campaign reaches its climax.

Hayden – along with defenders Ciaran Clark and Jamal Lewis – has been left out of Newcastle’s Premier League squad for the second half of the season.

The long-term knee injury Hayden sustained has been listed as the reason for his omission from head coach Eddie Howe’s plans.

Hayden, who has made 171 appearances since joining Newcastle from Premier League rivals Arsenal in 2016, still has four-and-a-half years remaining on his £41,000-per-week contract at St James’ Park.
