Newcastle now 'seriously considering' exciting £60m deal at St James' Park

Newcastle United are ‘seriously considering’ whether to tempt Moussa Diaby to St James’ Park and they have been boosted by the winger being ‘open’ to the move, according to CBS reporter Ben Jacobs.

The Magpies have been busy in the transfer window, with close to £60million being spent on Matt Targett, Nick Pope and Sven Botman, but it appears head coach Eddie Howe is keen on adding Diaby to his squad ahead of the upcoming campaign.

According to The Sun, Newcastle and French giants Paris Saint-Germain are interested in tempting Bayer Leverkusen into selling Diaby.

The report suggests the Bundesliga side are keen to keep the eight-cap France international on their books and, as a result, are seeking £50million.

Magpies officials have held talks over the winger after emerging as one of Howe’s key transfer targets ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Jacobs believes Newcastle may be forced to fork out a club-record fee for Diaby if other suitors join them and PSG in the race for his signature.

The journalist is also aware that the Frenchman is willing to hold discussions with the Magpies’ hierarchy.
