Newcastle now huge favourites for Premier League survival with bookmakers after Everton win

Newcastle have emerged as strong favourites to survive Premier League relegation after their 3-1 win against Everton.

Eddie Howe’s side put the Toffees to the sword on Tuesday night to move out of the drop zone and within a point of their Merseyside counterparts.

The result has seen the Magpies become outsiders for relegation with SkyBet at 9/4 - a far cry away from the 8/15 you would have been offered at the start of December.

Defeat for Everton confirms their status as relegation contenders but they are still expected to remain a top-flight side, with odds of 9/2.

The bookies believe Norwich (1/7), Watford (1/4) and Burnley (4/9) are all certs to be playing Championship football next season, news that will allow Toon fans to breathe a huge sigh of relief after months of negative forecasts.

There could be money to be made if one of the sides above Newcastle continue to struggle and get sucked into the dogfight.

Despite a strong start to the season, Brentford have lost 10 of their last 11 games in all competitions, with their only victory coming against League Two outfit Port Vale in the FA Cup.

Thomas Frank’s side are priced at 11/2 but those odds could tumble if the Bees’ form nosedives further.

Leeds fought back from two goals down to snatch a point in an epic six-goal thriller against Aston Villa.

Star players Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford remain injured and odds of 13/2 could net a tidy return at the end of the season if the Whites start to wobble.
