Newcastle have 'massive intent' to make 'exciting' signing at St James' Park

Newcastle United will have ‘massive intent’ in the summer transfer window as they look to bolster Eddie Howe’s first-team squad, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The Magpies became the richest football club in the world following their Saudi-backed takeover last year and have already secured some exciting signings since then.

When Howe took over from former manager Steve Bruce back in November, Newcastle were 19th in the table and five points from safety after 11 games of the Premier League campaign.

However, the 44-year-old tactician quickly turned things around at St. James Park, in part thanks to a £90 million spending spree in January.

Five new faces arrived in the shape of Bruno Guimaraes, Kieran Trippier, Matt Targett, Chris Wood and Dan Burn, allowing Newcastle to finish in 11th place, 14 points clear of relegated Burnley.

The North East outfit have already secured the signatures of Targett on a permanent deal following his successful loan spell alongside Nick Pope and Sven Botman this summer with further additions expected to follow.
