Newcastle fans 'in dreamland' as Kieran Trippier passed fit for Aston Villa game

Newcastle fans are buzzing that Kieran Trippier is in the starting lineup to face Aston Villa.

The Three Lions right-back - who will also captain the side - was instrumental in Tuesday night's 3-1 win against Everton, scoring an 80th-minute free-kick to clinch a crucial three points.

However, the 31-year-old was forced off in the closing stages with a calf strain and had to pass a late fitness test to be included today.

Toon fans took to social media to share their thoughts once the starting XI was revealed.

@LloysArcher3: Kieran trippier captainnnnnn

@MandysMags: TRIPPIER WITH THE ARMBAND I AM IN DREAMLAND

@KieranEdmed1: Trippier captain just what we wanted! Shame lascelles is out after picking up his game lately but good to see burn. Bruno 60th minute please edddddieeeeee 2-1 toon

@bennufc_18: TRIPPIERRR MY SAVIOURRRRR

Jamaal Lascelles was a surprise omission from the team sheet, with the skipper thought to be recovering from illness.

Blyth-born Dan Burn steps in to make his Magpies debut as supporters gave a mixed reaction on social media.

@Pooliemags1Ttv: Team is basically what I expected it to be barring lascelles been Ill and trippier been fit #nufc

@John_E-Reese: Shame for Lascelles to be out after his best game in sometime but really can’t argue with that lineup at all. Great to see De Bolle involved as well, must have been very impressive in training.

@TheLittleIcon: Not a bad line up tbf. Would have been harsh to drop any of the midfield for Bruno given how well they done in the Everton game, excited to see Burn play but after Tuesday Lascelles could be a miss #NUFC
