Newcastle: Exit-linked 6 ft 3 star has 'got a future' at St James' Park

Newcastle goalkeeper Karl Darlow has been informed that he’s still got a future at St James’ Park despite the arrival of Nick Pope, according to Sky Sports reporter Keith Downie.

The ex-Burnley ace became Eddie Howe’s second summer acquisition when he signed a long-term deal, although his arrival has raised question marks over the rest of the Toon Army’s goalkeeping department.

Darlow was Newcastle’s first choice stopper for an eight-game period between September and November before he lost his place in the side to Martin Dubravka and wouldn’t play again for the rest of the season.

Despite possibly being third in line of Eddie Howe’s goalkeeping options, Downie reckons the 31-year-old could still play a part under the former Bournemouth boss next season.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “My understanding is that Karl Darlow has been told he’s got a future at the club, so that leaves a bigger question mark over Martin Dubravka.

“There was a little bit of talk over him leaving in January, but it didn’t materialise at the time.”
