Newcastle 'definitely want' exciting 'difference-maker' at St James' Park

Newcastle United ‘definitely want’ to strengthen their attacking options when the January transfer window opens and are ready to seek out more ‘creative solutions’, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Eddie Howe bolstered his squad over the summer, splashing over £120 million on new signings, but will soon have the chance to add to his squad again in the winter.

The Magpies are understood to be considering a £50 million bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Myhaylo Mudryk once the winter window opens.

Mudryk has made a fast start to the season, scoring two goals and providing three assists in five matches, but could soon be on the move.

According to Football Insider, Newcastle are also set to revisit a deal for Leicester City attacking midfielder James Maddison in January, with the club believing his value could have dropped.

The North East giants saw multiple bids rejected for the one-cap England international during the summer, with the largest offer reaching £50 million.

Jones understands that Newcastle are certain to target more attacking recruits once the January window reopens.

The journalist adds that Howe needs stars in the final third with cutting edge who can carve out goalscoring opportunities.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Another attacking outlet is something they definitely want. I think that they’re seeking creative solutions at the moment. The season’s going fine but they’ve become like draw specialists in the league and you want to find somebody that can be the difference maker and turn those draws into wins and manage to carve out those openings.”
