‘New parameters’ affect Kylian Mbappe decision as forward provides PSG future update

Kylian Mbappe is not yet ruling out a contract extension with Paris Saint-Germain after admitting he would have announced if he had already made a decision.

Mbappe is in the final few months of his contract with PSG. The 2018 World Cup winner has long been expected to sign with Real Madrid upon his release. However, nothing can be taken for granted.

Doubts arose around the time Mbappe scored against his potential suitors in the Champions League a few weeks ago. However, it was ultimately Real who progressed at PSG’s expense.

There have been further rumours since, although the most likely course of action remains for the 23-year-old to move to Madrid.

But after scoring for PSG against Lorient on Sunday – marking the first time he and fellow forwards Neymar and Lionel Messi were all on the scoresheet together – Mbappe revealed his future is still up for question.

“If I had made my decision, I would have said so,” Mbappe told Amazon Prime. “I don’t have to answer to anyone.

“If I had made the decision, I would have taken responsibility. The good and the bad things, I have always assumed them by the way.

“I don’t have to hide, I didn’t kill anyone. I just want to make the best decision I can.

“I’m still thinking about it. Because there are new elements, new parameters. I want to make the right choice. I know that for people, it takes a little while.”

Mbappe can sign a pre-contract agreement with clubs outside France right now. However, the ex-Monaco man is biding his time.

Reports have recently suggested PSG have offered him a new contract featuring a release clause and other tempting terms.

Although only time will tell whether he accepts their advances, he added: “Is staying at PSG is possible? Yes of course.”
