New iPhone update causes stir as people convinced Apple software is 'made for cheating'

Apple teased the upcoming iOS 18 software, hinting at features that could be a double-edged sword.

iMessages is also getting an upgrade, allowing users to schedule messages and react with any emoji or sticker. Yet, it's a new privacy feature designed to "empower users" that's stirring controversy, with critics labelling it a potential boon for the unfaithful.

According to Apple's press statement, iOS 18 will offer "peace of mind" for those seeking to conceal certain apps and notifications. The statement explained: "Users can now lock an app; and for additional privacy, they can hide an app, moving it to a locked, hidden apps folder."

The system ensures that when an app is locked or hidden, its content, including messages or emails, becomes invisible in search results, notifications, and elsewhere on the device. While this update might be applauded by those looking to secure their banking apps, others fear it may be exploited for less noble purposes.

On X (previously known as Twitter), a number of iPhone users voiced their concerns the new privacy update could potentially facilitate infidelity. One user expressed their outrage, stating: "On the Apple update, you can hide and lock apps, and they won't even come up if you search words in the search bar. Apple is a cheater's paradise. That's sick."
