New crew chief for O’Halloran ahead of Snetterton test

McAMS Yamaha’s Jason O’Halloran prepares for a repeat of the title fight as Bennetts British Superbike official testing begins at Snetterton.

Returning to the squad that took 21 out of 33 top class victories last year, the 15-time BSB race winner kicks off his challenge with a new crew chief. As former WorldSBK stalwart Les Pearson returns to the British Championship hoping to reignite the Australian’s opening 2021 form.

Winter allowed the British crew to work closely with one of Pearson’s former teams, Pata Yamaha, providing McAMS a further boost in aerodynamics, engine and electronics for 2022 to improve the R1’s power delivery ahead of the title fight.

“Even though the off-season has been shorter than the last couple, it’s felt quite long so I’m looking forward to swinging my leg back over the R1,” O’Halloran said ahead of Friday’s opening action at the Norfolk venue. “I’ve done some riding out in Spain on a stock bike over the last month so I can’t wait to step back onto the superbike and get 2022 underway.

“We had a really strong year last year and it sounds like we’ve got even more to try with the bike. It looks like the weather is going to be nice so it’ll be a great opportunity to kickstart our 2022 campaign.”
