Never forget Yeovil's sassy tweet after Alexis Sanchez won MOTM on Man Utd debut in FA Cup
Alexis Sanchez‘s move to Manchester United from Arsenal certainly didn’t work out.
The Chilean – who was absolutely superb in north London – joined the Red Devils in the 2018 January transfer window, with Henrikh Mkhitaryan going in the other direction.
Big things were expected of Sanchez at Old Trafford, especially after he was handed an eye-watering contract reportedly worth around £500,000-a-week.
But his time at United was pretty disastrous, the former Barcelona man scoring just five goals in 45 appearances across all competitions.
He did at least contribute nine assists to go with his miniscule tally of goals, with two of them coming on debut in the FA Cup versus Yeovil Town – who were in League One at the time.
Sanchez performed fairly well in his first outing wearing the famous red jersey of United, helping the team achieve a 4-0 victory.
The forward was actually named Man-of-the-Match by Martin Keown on commentary duty for the BBC at Huish Park, a decision that didn’t go down too well with the hosts.
Why do we say that? Well, Yeovil actually posted a rather sassy tweet from their official account in which they labelled the call a “commercially-driven decision”.
#Alexis7 is announced as man of the match.
Not sure who picked it but that's a commercially-driven decision if ever there was one!#MUFC #YTFC
Meow….
Yeovil fans also gave Sanchez some stick during the game, journalist Henry Winter revealing at the time that the home crowd shouted “you dropped a tenner, Alexis” when the player chased a loose ball.
“You dropped a tenner, Alexis," Yeovil Town fan to Sanchez as he nears fans, chasing a loose ball. Plenty of pantomime boos for #mufc new signing.
The magic of the cup, eh? The Yeovil fans also booed Sanchez in
