Netflix The Madness star Colman Domingo's life off-screen from marriage and early career

Oscar-nominated actor Colman Domingo is set to star in a new Netflix series as a media pundit fighting to clear his name.

In The Madness, Domingo plays Muncie Daniels, a media pundit who stumbles upon a murder in the Poconos mountains and must fight for his innocence and survival. As he finds himself cornered, Muncie attempts to reconnect with his estranged family and rediscover his lost ideals.

The eight-episode series of The Madness will be available on Netflix on Thursday (November 28). The cast also includes Marsha Stephanie Blake, Gabrielle Graham, and John Ortiz.

Colman Domingo is best known for his roles in Rustin, Black Bottom, Zola, and Fear the Walking Dead. But what about his life away from the cameras and his breakthrough in the industry?

Born on November 28, 1969, Colman Domingo hails from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The third child in a family of four, Domingo was raised by his mother Edith Bowles, a bank worker, and his stepfather, a floor sander. His biological father left the family when Domingo was just nine years old.

As a child, Domingo had a lisp and attended speech therapy classes.

He graduated from Overbrook High School before attending Temple University, where he studied journalism, paving the way for his acting career.

However, Colman decided to follow his passion for acting rather than journalism and relocated to San Francisco. Here, he took part in various theatre productions and also taught at several universities.

He also worked as a bartender while trying to break into the television industry.

Domingo featured in numerous Broadway productions, earning several awards and nominations. He also played minor roles in Clint Eastwood's True Crime, Desi's Looking for a New Girl and Freedomland.
