Netflix Sex Education fans divided ahead of final season

Netflix announced Sex Education would be back for a fourth and final season this summer - but fans are divided as the show wraps up for good.

The popular series, which follows the lives of the students, staff and parents at the fictional Moordale Secondary School, stars Asa Butterfield as the nerdy-yet-loveable Otis Milburn. The son of sex therapist Jean (Gillian Anderson), Otis began dishing out sex advice to his peers at school, and, together with friend Maeve (Emma Mackey), they build up a clientele.

There have been a whirlwind romances all around - not just for Otis, but for his friends, including Eric (Ncuti Gatwa) - and even for his mum. Now, fans are divided on who they want Otis to end up with - Maeve, who he has harboured long-time feelings for, or popular girl Ruby (Mimi Keene), who he shared a short relationship with.

Despite previous feelings for Maeve, Otis ended up dating one of the most popular girls at Moordale, Ruby. The pair first hooked up at a Halloween party and continued to see each other, but decided to keep their fling quiet.

Eventually, word got around that Ruby had a mystery man - and the whole school found out about their relationship. Despite this, the pair kept seeing each other and decided to become official.

Otis soon learned that behind Ruby's cool-girl façade was someone who was struggling. Her family had to take care of her dad, who had been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis. Otis spent some time with the family and that night Ruby told him she loved him, but awkwardly, Otis didn't reciprocate. The awkward moment led the unlikely couple to break up.
