Netflix baffles subscribers with 'big' gaming news

Netflix subscribers have been left confused as it revealed a major gaming trilogy would soon be added to its gaming section.

On Wednesday (November 29), the popular streaming service confirmed Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy would join Netflix Games this December. It includes GTA III, GTA: San Andreas and GTA: Vice City.

In a Facebook post, Netflix wrote: "BIG NEWS: GTA III, Vice City, and San Andreas from the Grand Theft Auto Series are coming to Netflix Games for mobile on 14 December! Netflix subscribers can play all three games at no extra cost – pre register now so you can play first..."

But the announcement caused confusion among gamers. Earlier this month Rockstar Games, the company behind the GTA franchise, confirmed it would be releasing a trailer for an upcoming game - thought to be GTA VI - in early December.

Following years of speculation and leaks, Rockstar confirmed last February that the highly-anticipated game is in development. It will be the eighth main Grand Theft Auto game, following 2013's Grand Theft Auto V, and the sixteenth instalment overall.

Some thought the Netflix news was the new teaser from Rockstar, with one person writing on Facebook: "My heart almost dropped thinking this was a GTA6 trailer". A second wrote: "We got GTA on mobile before GTAVI!" as another pondered: "Imagine if this is revealed in early december as rockstar announcement".
