Neil Critchley offers injury update on Blackpool defender ahead of AFC Bournemouth test
Keogh was brought off in the second half of Blackpool’s 1-1 draw with Coventry City on Tuesday night.
Blackpool manager Neil Critchley had said that the defender wanted to continue, but he was taken off as a precaution.
However, Critchley has now confirmed that the 35-year old went for a scan on Thursday morning.
The results of the scan have yet to be discovered by Blackpool, but if the news is good then he could make his way back into the side in time for Saturday’s kick off.
“He had a scan late yesterday, so we’re waiting on the results. He feels better, so we’ll just have to wait and see how reports today,” said Critchley, via the Blackpool Gazette.
“We hope to have the information from the scan results this morning and we don’t train until later, so I’m still hopeful.
“Keyesy is a bit more positive himself, so fingers crossed.”
CJ Hamilton and Jordan Gabriel are also hoping to return to action, following their being rested for the trip to Coventry last midweek.
“They’re both fit. They will be up for selection like the squad from the other night,” added the Blackpool boss.
“To play the way we want to play, freshness is important. That’s mental freshness as much as physical.
“We’re going to need that tomorrow because we know we’ve got a difficult game.”
Blackpool face Scott Parker’s side at Bloomfield Road on Saturday afternoon, with a win potentially moving Blackpool up as high as 11th in the table if results elsewhere go their way.
Critchley’s side are unbeaten in five league games, so will be hoping to keep up their good form as they face the team second in the division.
The hope for Blackpool will be that Keogh’s injury is not as bad as first feared.
Keogh has been an important player for Critchley’s side
