He added: “I went up to the bedroom window and could see the man in the road. He was yelling out for help, he seemed to be in a lot of pain."
An air ambulance was seen landing on nearby Farnworth Cricket Club following the crash, which happened at about 11.50am.
A man in his 30s was airlifted to hospital following the incident, a spokesperson for North West Ambulance Service confirmed. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening, according to Greater Manchester Police.
A cordon remained in place along a stretch of Lavender Road, near to the junction of Campbell Street, throughout this afternoon.
Pictures showed damage to the front of the white van, while the motorbike could be seen lay on its side on a stretch of pavement inside the cordon. Smashed glass could be seen on the ground nearby.
Officers from GMP's Serious Collision Investigation Unit were spotted carrying out door to door enquiries near to the scene.
