'Need support' — Manchester United fans split on Harry Maguire's England reception
Harry Maguire has been the subject of much debate among Manchester United fans for some time. Some believe that he is not good enough to continue playing for the club while others believe that he is just a victim of the chaos that has occurred at Old Trafford this season.
Despite the discourse around Maguire, he was still picked by Gareth Southgate for his England squad to face Switzerland and the Ivory Coast. The England manager sees him as a key part of his squad and he has always performed well for England in the past; being part of the European Championship's Team of the Tournament in the summer alongside Leonardo Bonucci in the defence.
But despite his form for the national team, when Maguire took the field against the Ivory Coast at Wembley last night he was met by boos from the crowd as his name was read out. This has led to a united response from his teammates condemning the actions and Southgate himself was not best pleased.

He said: “I thought the reception was a joke. An absolute joke. I don’t get it. What he has done for us is phenomenal. We’re either all in this together or we’re not.
"He’s in an England shirt and not only should you support a player in an England shirt regardless but, when you have played to the level he has and put in the performances he has, it should be total commitment.
“The team are totally united and we recognise everyone has difficult moments, and he will come through it. They are real England fans and some are influenced by, I don’t know, social media or ex-players influencing opinion. It has never been acceptable. Why are players going to play any better? Fans should get behind their team.”
