Nearly 1 million view Limerick's All-Ireland victory
Nearly one million people watched Limerick seal their third All-Ireland Hurling Championship in succession at Croke Park across RTÉ platforms.
A television peak audience of 882,000 on RTÉ was added to with 113,000 streams on RTÉ Player for the showpiece event in hurling.
RTÉ Radio also brought live commentary at home and abroad as John Kiely's side edged out Kilkenny in front of over 80,000 supporters.
Kiely spoke about the occasion as well as locking horns with a legendary figure like Brian Cody:
"We have such respect for Kilkenny and what they've done, what Brian has done with the various groups he has had over the last 24 years.
"Their record is unparalleled and it will take generations for it to be anywhere chased by anybody, and it probably never will.
"We knew we were going to have to be at our absolute best if we were going to get the result we wanted today.
"To win any final is difficult, but you know the challenge that is going to come to you physically and tactically and in hurling terms, to be up to that is a tremendous achievement for our boys and that’s what makes it so special. This is really special."
Limerick's homecoming takes place at 5pm in the Gaelic Grounds. The team are expected to be on stage by 7pm.
