National signing day - Top prospects and storylines entering college football's late signing period

College football's early signing period brought plenty of surprises and news, as 269 ESPN 300 recruits signed their national letters of intent.

That leaves the February signing period with much less on the table for teams to move up in the rankings or add early impact playmakers. There are currently 14 ESPN 300 recruits who are uncommitted, including three five-stars, and 17 who are committed but unsigned.

Even though there won't be as much quantity and likely won't be as many surprises, there are still some big names set to make decisions. Some prospects will make their announcements on College Football Live's national signing day special on Wednesday (noon ET, ESPN2 and the ESPN App).

To get you caught up on how we got to this point and what's left, here is a primer for Wednesday's national signing day.

Texas A&M won the early signing period and is sitting atop the class rankings with three five-star commitments. The Aggies did have four five-stars, but linebacker Harold Perkins recently decommitted. He is still considering Texas A&M but just took a visit to LSU, and is also including Florida on his list.

The staff signed the No. 1 prospect overall in defensive tackle Walter Nolen, five-star defensive tackle Gabe Brownlow-Dindy and five-star receiver Evan Stewart.

Alabama is sitting at No. 2 in the rankings with three five-star commitments in offensive tackle Tyler Booker, receiver Shazz Preston and defensive end Jeremiah Alexander. The Crimson Tide have 20 ESPN 300 commitments, 17 of whom are ranked in the top 120 of the ESPN 300.
