Nathan Craig reveals his career highlights as Cofi legend hangs up his boots

Former Everton, Caernarfon Town and Wales under 21 footballer Nathan Craig is set to play his last ever game this weekend. The 30-year-old has made the decision to hang up his boots after struggling with injuries in recent times.

Craig played over 200 times for his hometown club Caernarfon Town during a seven-year spell. He will wear the yellow and green for the last time this Saturday as he appears for a Cofi legends XI in a special centenary match for CPD Mountain Rangers at Cae Gors, Rhosgadfan.

During a distinguished career, Craig played European football for Everton as well as winning four caps for Wales' under 21s. He would also make 47 appearances for then Football League side Torquay United.

Craig told North Wales Live that he is delighted to be involved in the club's centenary celebrations this weekend, particularly because he has family ties to the club. He said: "It’s a massive day for Mountain Rangers as a club obviously celebrating over 100 years since they started and for me personally I’m really looking forward to what will be my last game as a player due to injury.

"My dad used to play for Mountain Rangers back in the day and I’ve got a lot of respect towards the club after they recently re-formed. It's fantastic to not just see a first team back playing at Cae Gors but also the junior teams."

It was a tough decision for Craig to end his impressive career at a relatively young age. The ex Porthmadog and Flint Town United man explained his thinking behind the decision.

He said: "Obviously it was hard but I instantly knew it was the right thing to do. I’ve got arthritis all over the inside of my left foot (too much kicking the floor over the years!)
