Nathan Ake explains how Jeremy Doku helped Man City overcome surprise Bournemouth tactic

Nathan Ake has heaped praise on Jeremy Doku following his man-of-the-match display in Manchester City’s 6-1 win over Bournemouth.

The winger was in unbeatable form, grabbing four assists after firing home the opener after half an hour. The Belgian has hit the ground running since his summer arrival and is putting up a real fight with Jack Grealish for the left wing spot.

Ake, who scored City’s final goal two minutes from time, hailed Doku for his quality and explained how well he has settled in at the Etihad. Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: "His personality, he works hard, he's a good guy and he gets on with everyone.

“He's not shy to show his abilities, he wants to take everyone on even in training. He's so difficult to mark and he's going to be important this season.”

Bournemouth tried to set up a low block but were undone with ease. Ake said Doku was integral in unlocking the Cherries defence, allowing City to power home to a win and go top of the table.

Referencing the scoreline, Ake added: "It shows that we want to continue what we've been doing. Last week [vs Manchester United] was a good game but the league goes on and you have to keep going and keep winning.

"We expected them [Bournemouth] to play with four defenders as they have all season but they changed to five. It's about finding the spaces, Jeremy was fantastic. Sometimes you need individual quality to open up the game and he did that, he was fantastic."
