Nasarawa Amazons, Bayelsa Queens trade tackles in BOWFT final
Nasarawa Amazons Football Club of Lafia, yesterday, defeated defending champions, Edo Queens, to qualify for the final of the Betsy Obaseki Women’s Football Tournament (BOWFT), where they will meet Bayelsa Queens in the grand finale.
The match at the University of Benin Sports Complex, in Benin City, was decided by a penalty shootout with the Lafia ladies proving to be better marks women after the regular and extra period had ended 2-2.
The 12-day tournament, in its fourth edition, started on October 6, 2024, and will run through October 17, 2023.
In the second semifinal game at the same venue, Bayelsa Queens defeated Heartland Queens 2-0 to book their final ticket.
Meanwhile, the organisers will hold a seminar themed: “Say No to Teenage Pregnancy and Child Motherhood,” tomorrow as part of activities lined up for this year’s event.The event is expected to attract all first ladies from the 36 states of the federation.
