'My wife loves this and I don't think she knows it was so cheap': Shoppers 'fooled' by £12 perfume that smells far more expensive

Beauty buffs are racing to buy a £12 designer perfume that's said to smell 'so expensive', few people realise how much it really costs. Ted Baker's feminine fragrance W has received glowing reviews on Amazon, where it is currently on offer for just £12 per 75ml bottle.

According to Fragrantica, the scent includes notes of violets, peonies, raspberry and orchids, with a base of cedar and vanilla. The brand describes it as "modern simplicity with a touch of femininity".

One reviewer said he bought the perfume on the recommendation of a friend who "smelled great". "I was shocked when I discovered how cheap it was and it was a pleasant surprise," he wrote.

"My wife loves it, and I don't think she has any idea it was so cheap since it's Ted Baker. If you want to please the missus on the cheap, buy her some Ted Baker W! What a bargain!"

Another shopper described it as a "really pretty fragrance" that reminded her of scents from the early 2000s: accurate, as the scent was launched in 2002.

"It lasts a good few hours and leaving a sweet, subtle vanilla close to skin after that," they commented.

"Super for everyday wear and safe for the office, not overpowering anyone. Amazing value, it smells like a much more expensive perfume."

Despite 77% of reviews on Amazon being five star, there was one who marked his rating down to two stars, saying he was disappointed with the smell.

"I thought this would be nice gift," he wrote. "Hoping for a summer floral smell but more like air freshener or older ladies perfume. Only
