“My man would probably be Tony Mowbray” – West Brom fan pundit debates Steve Bruce’s future at the Hawthorns

When Steve Bruce took over at West Brom at the beginning of February, the Baggies still harboured hopes of promotion from the Sky Bet Championship. 

However, poor form under the 61-year-old has seen the Baggies drop from fifth in the table when he took over, to 12th and six points outside the play-off places at present.

Naturally, this has seen Bruce come under scrutiny in recent months, although he did manage to steady the ship somewhat towards the end of March.

Despite this, Bruce’s future at the Hawthorns still appears doubtful, and with that in mind, we asked FLW’s West Brom fan pundit Matt for his thoughts on whether or not he’d like to see Steve Bruce remain in charge next season.

“Whether or not it happens is another story, but I think Albion need a massive re-shuffle in the summer.” Matt told FLW.

“They need a refresh, they need a clear out, and that includes the manager in my opinion.”

“Steve Bruce, I don’t think ever was really going to work – I can see the logic behind the appointment with his championship record I guess – but for me, he’s not the problem, but he’s definitely not the answer.”

“His record at the club has shown that.”

“I’d definitely be looking for someone that could galvanise the fanbase, can sell season tickets, get the club pushing in the right direction again and I don’t think Steve Bruce is the man to do that.”

“He hasn’t really impressed me since joining the club and I’d definitely be looking for someone with a different outlook on football – in the same way I suppose
