'My kids don't go out - it's not safe' - Fear on estate after man knifed in neck

Residents on a Radcliffe estate say they have been left 'afraid' and 'shocked' as an attempted murder investigation has been launched after a man was knifed in the neck on their doorstep.

Emergency services were scrambled to Haworth Walk at around 11.55pm on Tuesday night (August 29). Police said a man was 'targeted' by another man with a knife. The 44-year-old sustained 'significant' injuries to his back and neck, and remains in hospital.

On what residents say is usually a 'quiet' estate, the incident has left many 'worried' about children and loved ones. One young couple, who have a three-year-old child, said they had been left fearful after noticing their path taped off by police in the middle of the night.

Another family, who live around the corner from Haworth Walk, said they were 'shocked' by the incident after living on the estate for 23 years.

"Believe it or not, it's usually really quiet around here," the mum-of-two said. "That's scary because I had no idea. I keep myself to myself.

"My kids don't go out, because it's not safe," she added. "It's frightening to think that has happened right here on our doorstep.

"People think it's rough here but you live in amongst each other."

One elderly resident said she had been left 'afraid' living on the estate after the stabbing just metres from her house.

"It worries me," she said. "You get all sorts of trouble
