My dentist reccomended a £20 gadget for cleaner teeth - it's a total game-changer

For weeks leading up to her regular dentist appointment, reporter Bethan Shufflebotham had been seeing water flossers all over her TikTok For You Page. She says she initially dismissed them as an unnecessary gimmick, considering she already used interdental brushes, floss, a toothbrush, and mouthwash.

However, Bethan's curiosity got the better of her, and during my dentist appointment, she inquired as to whether they were worth adding to my routine. Her dentist then informed her that they're a 'great' tool worth trying, but shouldn't be used as a substitute for flossing.

The black one is currently the cheapest at £16.98 for Prime Members, but for a couple of pounds, it's worth choosing whichever will look best in your bathroom.

The cordless water flosser comes with a variety of jet picks, a charger and a 300ml capacity water tank, which is ample to clean your entire mouth in one go. To kick off, I attached the 0.5mm ultra-fine water column, filled up the tank and got cracking.

The handy device boasts four settings, including normal, soft, pulse and DIY, meaning you can switch between them based on how sensitive your gums are feeling, with normal being a tad more powerful than
