MVP set for in-ring return following knee injury

Former United States Champion and current manager of Bobby Lashley, MVP has revealed he’s close to an in-ring return in WWE.

We last saw Montel Vontavious Porter in action on the September 6th episode of Monday Night Raw where he teamed with Lashley as part of a Tag Team Turmoil match. We learned later that the 48-year-old had suffered a knee injuring that would rule him out of competition for a number of months.

Speaking on Freddie Prinze Jr’s Wrestling With Freddie podcast, MVP updated fans on the status of his injury and revealed he actually suffered a torn meniscus that has now fully healed. The veteran is now looking to pass all the necessary assessments in order to be cleared to get back in the ring.

I’m going through my physical assessment to get cleared to get back in the ring because I had that knee injury for a while. It’s all healed up, it’s just a matter of me jumping through hoops to make sure I’m physically capable of performing in the ring. I’m feeling good. The knee injury, the torn meniscus, is completely healed.

Now it’s just a matter of rebuilding the strength in the leg from the atrophied muscle. My teardrop is gone, non-existent, we’re working on building that back up. My cardio is much better than I thought it would be because I actually hired a trainer and have been working on it. I’m further along than I thought I would be, fortunately, my back isn’t gasping for air. I feel pretty damn good,”

MVP had still been seen on WWE TV whilst recovering from his injury but has absent from programming since Bobby Lashley’s own injury saw him carried out at the Elimination Chamber event. Lashley is expected to have an extended spell on the side-lines due to a reported shoulder injury.
