Munster GAA announce €1.8m club development investment
A significant step was taken in the GAA's infrastructure programme with the rubber stamping of €1.8m by the Munster Council in club development grants.
After two years of closure due to the pandemic, the fund re-opened this year and will now boost the development work of 400 clubs across the province.
Munster GAA chairman Ger Ryan said: "These grants have supported an impressive range of capital development projects, with clubs investing over €23m in upgrading their facilities. This level of expenditure is testament to the strength of the GAA in the province and reflects the impressive vision of our clubs to continually improve facilities for players and supporters alike."
The €1.8m covers capital grant works in clubs in Munster for the years 2020, 2021 and 2022.
Having accepted applications for the two years of the pandemic and for 2022, a total total expenditure of €23.75m was recorded across units in the province.
Meanwhile, 440 applications were submitted for consideration.
The Council agreed a budget of €1.8m for the grant scheme. This is the largest investment the Council has ever allocated for club development grants.
€930,000 is donated by the Munster Council and the remaining €870,000 is contributed by Central Council.
A new category, the urban participation projects, has been established, with €150,000 of the Munster Council budget to be allocated to it.
